The Nagaur Fair, also known as the Ramdeoji Cattle Fair, is one of the largest livestock fairs in India — second in Rajasthan only to Pushkar. Held over several days in the town of Nagaur, it draws thousands of traders who come to buy and sell cattle, camels, bullocks and the prized Nagauri oxen, renowned for their strength and speed.
The fairground becomes a vast, colourful spectacle of animals with painted horns and decorated bodies, ringed by a lively bazaar selling spices, wooden crafts, iron implements and leather goods. Beyond the trading, the fair is a festival in its own right, with camel and bullock races, tug-of-war, and folk performances.
Set against Nagaur's historic forts and temples, it offers a vivid, authentic glimpse of rural Rajasthan's traditions and its centuries-old livestock culture.
