The Mahaveerji Fair is one of the most important Jain festivals in Rajasthan, held at the revered Shri Mahavir Ji temple in the Karauli district. It honours Lord Mahavir, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara of Jainism, and draws devotees from across the country.
The fair's highlight is a grand procession, or rath yatra, in which the idol is carried in a decorated chariot to the banks of the Gambhir river for ceremonial rites. Days of prayer, devotional singing and community feasting accompany a lively fairground of stalls and folk entertainment.
The result is an occasion that is at once deeply spiritual and warmly festive, reflecting the strong Jain heritage of the region.
