In Jaipur the day belongs to the rooftops, where families gather to fly kites and engage in spirited 'pech' — friendly duels in which flyers try to cut each other's strings, greeted by cries of 'wo kata!' across the neighbourhoods. The Jaipur Polo Ground hosts an International Kite Festival that draws participants from across India and abroad, with acrobatic stunt kites and enormous novelty designs.
